Out of thirteen short videos, 3 films qualified to compete for National Sineng Pambata Festival 2013 to be held at SM Megamall this October. The said entries- “ARMM Hymn”, “Dikil” and “Pagetaw” - were shot and produced by children, parents and teachers who actively participated during the 3-day workshop.

“I am so happy to learn a lot from this workshop. Isa na po ‘yong paggawa ng video na maaaring gamitin sa aming aralin. Nadevelop din po rito ang skill ko sa pag-arte,” says Stephanie Jhayne T. Salcedo, a third year student of Dr. Bernabe G. Delafuente Sr. NHS, Nuro Upi.
Mr. Salvador Benjamin Jr, a parent-participant from Parang Central Elementary School, Parang, Maguindanao was amazed to the films when they were shown. “Hindi ako makapaniwala! We made the films in just one day! Napakahirap pero the feeling is so fulfilling. Kaya pala natin dito sa Maguindanao na makagawa ng sarili nating pelikula,” Mr. Benjamin proudly said.
Eleonor L. Ladrigan, a parent and teacher from Gayonga Central Elem. Sch., Kabuntalan was so grateful to be one of the 75 lucky participants of the workshop. She said, “Buti na lang napasali ako rito, marami akong magagandang nakuha mula sa workshop na ito. Bukod sa bagong pamamaraan sa pagtuturo kung saan ang bawat bata ay may kalayaang makalikha, natutunan ko rin at namulat sa tamang panonooring programa sa telebisyon at magabayan ang aking mga apo at pupils sa panonood ng mga ito.” – Edna S. DepEd-ARMM RS Atty Jamar Kulayan lauded the program as he shares his enthusiasm and love for film-making even when he was a young child, stating “ that even as early as six years old, I was awed at the power of films to convey their message to the people, I hope that there will be future film-makers here who will realize their potential from this workshop.”

According to Atty Maisara Danduman-Latiph, Assistant Regional Secretary for Programs and Projects, this media workshop aims to reach the parents, children and teachers on teaching them responsible use of media especially making television safe for kids, using digital technology as an intervention in student learning and unlocking talents and creativity lying potent in the region.
For the coming school year, the implementation of this workshop will be expanded to other divisions in the region.
