Message from the Minister on World Teacher’s Day and National Teachers' Month Culmination Celebration.

Asalaamu Alaikum warakmatulahi taala wa barakatuh.

As the Minister of Basic, Higher and Technical Education, it is my honor to lead this year’s World Teachers’ Day celebration and the culmination of National Teachers’ Month in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Perhaps the most influential role models for students and young people next to their parents and guardians are their teachers. Teaching is considered a noble profession. Educators and teachers are responsible for the intellectual, physical, moral, and even spiritual development of our young people. Indeed, teachers have enormous potential to play a leading role in shaping the future of the Bangsamoro. This is why the Ministry will be investing heavily in revitalizing the teaching profession and teacher management in the BARMM.

With support from Australia through the Pathways Program, we will strengthen the pre and in-service professional development of our teachers. Guided by the principle of Moral Governance, we will ensure that appropriate policy and institutional reforms are in place for better teacher recruitment, deployment, and performance management. The Ministry plans to commission a teaching quality assessment to better understand the professional learning needs of our teachers. We shall endeavor to develop an effective teacher professional development program. We are doing these so that our children will learn from qualified, competent, and caring teachers.
To all our teachers and education managers, I want to thank you for your steadfast service, your passion, your sacrifices, and your devotion to your profession and your students. You are the unsung heroes; the vanguards of the future of the Bangsamoro homeland and the country as a whole. It is only fitting that we celebrate your significant contributions and selfless public service.

Thank you very much and Asalaamu Alaikum warakmatulahi taala wa barakatuh.
