DepEd-ARMM nominees and their workplace supervisors listening intently to an alumna of University of South Australia (UniSA) explains the program offering available for international students.
Cebu City - Four (4) teacher-nominees who recently passed the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) attended a three-day course counseling in the city together with their respective workplace supervisor.

The four (4) teacher-nominees from DepEd-ARMM are Norhaifa Mamainte (Lanao Sur IB), Nor-Ain Sani (Marawi City), Norilyn Sabdula (Lanao Sur II) and Charmine Puig. Workplace supervisors in attendance are OIC-ASDS Salamat Abedin (Marawi City), Mampay Macagaan (Lanao Sur IB) and Aquil Sarip (Lanao Sur II).

In this 3-day course counseling the participants were oriented on the need for re-entry action plan (REAP) and why this has to be done early and connected with organizational priorities.

On the third day, representatives and alumni of selected Australian universities were present to discuss program details, support services and clarify nominees concerns. More than a dozen universities were represented.

After the counseling, nominees are to forward their course preference, undergo a comprehensive medical check-up and one final pre-departure orientation before leaving for Australia in June to get ready for the school opening in July 2014.

According to Regional Secretary Atty Jamar Kulayan, this initiative is part of the HRD effort of the current ARMM leadership, to build a critical mass of reform-minded change-makers within the DepEd-ARMM bureaucracy.

Assistant Secretary for Programs Noor Saada said this is the 3rd time that DepEd-ARMM is sending teacher-scholars for overseas studies. The first one was with a leadership short course at Universiti Brunei Darussalam and the second with 8 scholars to Indonesia.
