The first batch of 490 Grade 8 trainees from Lanao Sur IA, Basilan and Lamitan City was trained at Cotabato City State Polytechnic College (CCSPC) on April 29 to May 3.
Going on at the same venue is the second batch of 500+ Grade 8 teachers from sixty-six (66) national high schools of Lanao Sur II division. The week-long training is expected to be completed by May 10, Friday.
Another partner TEI, Notre Dame of Jolo College, have started to train 135 Grade 8 teachers covering Science, Math and English subjects. These teachers come from Sulu Division.
"We hope with this training, our Grade 8 teachers have familiarized themselves with the new Grade 8 curriculum which is anchored on the spiraling method", said Ma. Celeste Padla, Regional Program Coordinator.
According to BSE chief Dr Fatima Abubakar, funds for food, accommodation and training materials are provided by DepEd CO directly to the partner TEIs; while DepEd-ARMM is expected to pay for the trainers' transportation and local NHSs are expected to shoulder the travel expenses of the Grade 8 teachers.
