No classes in schools used for registration

After consultation with the Commission on Election (COMELEC), DepEd-ARMM declares today (July 9) and tomorrow (July 10) as holidays for the schools affected by registration, i.e. schools being used by COMELEC for the registration.

For the succeeding days of the registration period, the concerned district supervisor/in-charge is directed to coordinate with the Local Election Officer to appraise the security situation in their respective area. The Local Election Officer and the District supervisor(s)/In-charge may jointly declare suspension of classes in the affected schools if the security situation is volatile and the children, teachers and other non-teaching staff are unnecessarily exposed to danger. A copy of such declaration shall be forwarded to the Division Office.

The Schools Division Superintendents are directed to keep track of the holiday declaration by the District supervisor/in-charge and the Local election officer. In order to meet the minimum 200 contact days for SY 2012-13, these holidays shall be offset with make-up classes in October 2012 semestral break.
