A new day dawns in Basilan today with two political rival families reconciling for the interest of the larger community. The peace signing was spearheaded by Governor Jum Akbar and ARMM Regional Governor. Witnessing the event includes DILG Secretary Robredo, Presidential Adviser Ging Deles, Governors Sakur Tan and Sadikul Sahali.
Bishop Marvin Jumoad sums up the event with the words, "the only way to peace is through forgiveness."
Members of the 7th Regional Legislative Assembly (RLA) express their support. Accordingly, this serves as an example of statesmanship in addressing clan conflict and factionalism, opening an avenue and an opportunity long awaited and now dawning, to achieve peace and development, that the ARMM people greatly deserve.
The DepEd-ARMM family supports this event and congratulates those who patiently work for this reconciliation.
