Theme: " A well-informed teacher is an empowered professional"
One hundred and thirty-seven (137) newly-appointed teachers from Maguindanao I and II divisions will troop to Cotabato City for a 5-day induction program. Regional Secretary Atty Jamar Kulayan has approved Batch 6 induction immediately after Ramadhan, from August 12 to 16, 2013, at the Pacific Heights, Cotabato City.
This week-long activity is a Civil Service mandated program for new entrants in government to develop their pride, belongingness and commitment to public service. The program is also designed to inform new teachers about DepEd programs, operations as well as their duties and responsibilities based on the Civil Service standards and benefits as member of the GSIS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and PPSTA.
Additionally, the program also includes a UNICEF-session on brain psychology and child/youth development in order to promote a more pupil/student-centered learning environment.
What is now the teacher induction program was initially envisioned by Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman as a process of conscientizing new teachers to their role in the public schools and its impact to society. RG Hataman sums it up this way, "Teachers should understand they are not just employed to promote literacy, as in reading and writing; they have critical role to play in molding and preparing the next generation of ARMM constituency, they influence the future and this training begins with the 'opening of the mind and of the heart' to public service, to increase our chance of positive future".
Participants are advised to check in high noon of August 12 and will check out late in the afternoon of August 16. DepEd-ARMM will take charge of the food and accommodation, transportation will be personal cost of the participants. This new funding arrangement is in keeping with the burgeoning number of teacher-inductees this year.
The list of teacher-inductees are as follows:
