Around 450 Grade 2 teachers from the division of Sulu attended the Regional Mass Training held last July 15-24, 2013 at the Notre Dame Review and Learning Center, Kasulutan Village, Jolo, Sulu. This is consonant with the full implementation of Grade 2 curriculum under the K to 12 Basic Education Program for the School Year 2013-2014.
Due to the massive number of Grade 2 teacher-participants, the training was divided into two batches. Batching is a training management tool to
ensure an efficient and effective delivery of the of the training objectives.
The first batch was held on July 15-19, 2013 with teachers from mainland districts of Jolo 1 to 4, Indanan
North and South, Patikul East and West, Parang East and
West,Talipao and Maimbung.
The second batch was held on July 20-24, 2013, with participants came from island districts of Pangutaran, Luuk, Omar, Tongkil, Siasi 1&2, Laminusa,
Sibaud,Pata, Lugus, Tapul and Panamao. There were also participants from the local private schools.
The training highlighted the
salient features of the K to 12 Basic Education
Program specifically on Grade 2 curriculum. "It is a must and necessary
that our grade 2 teachers shall be equipped and competent enough with the
basic skills and foundations of the grade 2 curriculum, thus, maximizing our
wholehearted support relative to the full implementation of the K to 12 Basic
Education Program for this school year and for the coming years onward. We
must exert and double our efforts by sharing your expertise and knowledge to
efficiently deliver the goods of K to 12 to our teachers", said Dr.
Tim U. Arbison, Schools Division Superintendent of Sulu during the consultation
meeting with the training facilitators before the conduct of the training.

The training lasted for 10 days
due to the massive number of participants and were divided into two batches to
ensure an efficient and effective delivery of the of the training objectives.
The first batch started from july 15-19, 2013
who came from the mainland district namely: JOLO 1- 4 Districts, Indanan
North and South Districts, Patikul East and West Districts, Parang East and
West Districts,Talipao District and Maimbung District. Afterwards, it was then
followed by the second batch who came across from the island district on July
20-24, 2013: Pangutaran, Luuk, Omar, Tongkil, Siasi 1&2, Laminusa,
Sibaud, Pata, Lugus, Tapul, Panamao District and some from private schools.

Despite of the fasting period, the training was successfully completed. Teachers displayed
their enthusiasm and keenness to learn about the K to 12 curriculum, optimistic and fascinated by the
different learning activities/experiences, and were able to unearth their
multiple intelligences through exposure and maximum participation to group
tasks, activities and presentation of outputs.
Assistant Secretary for Programs Atty Maisara Dandamun-Latiph expressed her appreciation to the trainers' pool for actively facilitating the training for ten (10) consecutive days. The members of the Sulu trainers' pool are: Dr.
Joel A. Alamia, EPS-1 (Lead Trainor), Dr.
Abdulnaser J. Adala, EPS-1, Jayton A. Jama, EPS-1, Jocelyn K. Sanchez, Totoh
Habibun, Dist. Incharge, Kerwin C. Asid, ESP-1and Mirasol B. Dedoro, MT-1, TIC.
This training was graced by
the K to 12 regional monitoring team.
With this division training completed, DepEd-ARMM is no compliant with Grade 2 K to 12 training requirement. (Kerwin Asid/DepEd Sulu)
