UNESCO APCEIU solicits children's stories

The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) Publication and Public Relations Team would like to cordially invite everyone who is interested in "Education for International Understanding" (EIU) to take part in this year’s “EIU Story Collection Project.” Please share your stories related to EIU with us and all the people around the world. APCEIU believes that “storytelling” is highly effective in educating our children about the broad and abstract concepts of EIU. Stories are nowadays increasingly being used in class to educate children about the cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity in their own countries and across the globe.

In this regard, we ask you to share your interesting and exciting stories that can grab the attention of children (age 10~15). Any and all forms of narratives (comedy, tragedy, fables, etc.), both fiction and non-fiction, are welcome, but the stories should promote the values of EIU. The suggested themes include, but not limited to: peace, cultural diversity, world heritage awareness, human rights, literacy, etc. Please note that religious extremism or political propaganda about a specific regime or individual will result in disqualification.

If you wish to share your stories with us, please submit them by no later than 31 May 2013. Awards will be given to the three best stories in addition to them being published in various publications by APCEIU, which would be distributed throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The attachment contains more information you can refer to. For further inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. We would also appreciate it very much if you could inform your acquaintances on this project.
