The first-ever ARMM Senior Scout Jamboree enters its 3rd day today. Last Sunday, the welcome program was held at the town gymnasium of Upi, Maguindanao. Delegations present were from Tawi-Tawi, Lamitan City, Marawi City, Lanao Sur IA, Lanao Sur IB, Lanao Sur II and Maguindanao II.
In the opening program, RG Mujv Hataman was represented by Atty Sitti Mariam Balahim, CPA. The Regional Governor is a strong advocate of youth and leadership development being a once a youth leader in his younger days.
RS Atty Jamar M. Kulayan of DepEd-ARMM was represented by Director Anwar Upahm of the ARMM Cooperative and Development Office for Bangsamoro Youth Affairs (CDO-BYA). Sec Kulayan in approving this program talks about developing life skills for young Moros and how this jamboree will help prepare them for the wider world.
The Jamboree's theme, "back to basics, back to nature" exposes senior scouts to the rudiment of daily life and survival as well as creating environmental awareness and exposure.
According to WB Pablito Penafiel, Regional Scout Coordinator, for the duration of the 5-day period, senior scouts will be expose to adventure challenge, community service, arts and crafts, team building, lake challenge, basic scout skills and survival challenge. These activities were developed in coordination with the BSP Western Mindanao and Maguindanao-Cotabato City Councils and led by Wood Badgers.
