McDonald's Bright Minds Read (BMR) Program Returns to ARMM

DepEd-ARMM Assistant Secretary Atty Maisara Latiph met with Ms Joyce T. Gacutan of the Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC) at ARMM-MLO to discuss GADC's Bright Minds Read (BMR) Program. MLO Staff led by OIC Jolly Lais joined the discussions and offered MLO's support services for the upcoming partnership between GADC and ARMM.

Ms Gacutan is GADC's Public Affairs Manager and tasked with continuing and promoting the BMR Program, especially in areas like ARMM. A flagship program of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Philippines, the Bright Minds Read (BMR) is a program in partnership with the Department of Education (Central) that aims to develop beginning reading materials and strategies for public school teachers and children. The success of BMR is anchored on the development of reading toolkits that enrich and facilitate the reading and language skills of pupils. BMR was first implemented in ARMM in 2008 and covered 27 schools. GADC hopes to bring it back in ARMM this year.

Part of what have been discussed are:
1. Adjustments on the draft MOA between GADC and ARMM
2. Upcoming meetings and MOA Signing
3. Possible schedule of Training of Trainors
