Buyout loans from LBP soon to be signed

DepEd-ARMM Regional Secretary Jamar Kulayan recently announced that they have completed with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) the negotiation on the proposed buyout for teachers with huge loan obligations from lending institutions.

Sec Kulayan said that the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MoA) between DepEd-ARMM and Landbank will be inked on October 5, coinciding with the observance of the World Teachers' Day.

Early on RG Mujiv Hataman emphatizing with the flight of teacher-victims of loan sharks had ordered DepEd-ARMM to explore buy-out options with at least two government-owned banks. While DepEd-ARMM have no legal obligation, RG Hataman opines that it is a moral obligation of government to help improve the welfare off its teaching workforce.
