After more than three (3) years of technical preparations, the Basic Education Assistance for Muslim Mindanao (BEAM-ARMM) is finally approved today, September 18, 2012, by the NEDA Board chaired by President Noynoy Aquino at a meeting in Malacanan Palace.
The BEAM-ARMM proposal was presented by Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman and assisted by DepEd Secretary Bro Armin Luistro and NEDA Secretary Dr Arsenio Balisacan. Serving as technical resource persons were DepEd-ARMM Secretary Atty Jamar Kulayan, Asec Noor Saada and Regional Planning chief Marjuni Maddi.
The BEAM-ARMM is a P3 billion-plus, five-year grant from the Australian Government to help improve access to quality basic education in the region. The four (4) core components of the project are: Kindergarten and Basic Education (Kindergarten is managed by UNICEF), School Health (managed by GIZ and FfS), Technical and Vocational Education and Alternative Delivery Model (managed by BRAC Philippines).
