The Essential Health Care Program (EHCP) is in Tawi-Tawi! EHCP is a flagship program of the Department of Education which the GIZ/Fit for School, Inc paved its way to bring in to Tawi-Tawi focusing on three interventions: daily handwashing, daily toothbrushing with fluoride and bi-annual deworming. It is dubbed as “ Programa Hikarayaw sin Pag-Ayad sin Pamaranan”. The Health and Nutrition Section is instrumental in the conduct of the orientation and preparations.
The five Model Schools chosen are: Datu Halun Laboratory ES (Bongao Central District), Tubig Tanah ES (Bongao I District), Sea Orchids ES (Bongao III District), Bato-Bato Central ES and Panglima Jalman ES both of Panglima Sugala District.
To date the Datu Halun Laboratory ES has its WASH Facility almost done which is a project of the Parent-Teacher- Community Association (PTCA) through the initiative of the school Principal Ms. Shaiha I. Irahani. This posted a challenge among the other four model schools to come up with their own WASH Facility in time for the Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Provincial Government, DepEd and Fit for School, Inc. and the formal launching ceremony on August 29,2012.
